EPIDURAL AND WHEN SHOULD YOU GET ONE?

What is an epidural?
An epidural is placed by by either an anesthesiologist or a Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). It is a common method used for pain relief in labor. The medication is placed into the epidural space in the lower back and it’s effects decrease sensation as well as pain. This is popular for labor pain because as it causes quick and sometimes total pain relief for the mom, the medication does not directly affect baby as the medication is not transferred to the baby.

If you decide an epidural is what you want, at what point in labor should you get an onel?
The answer is whenever you want! An epidural is a personal choice and your desire for pain relief, or not, is 💯your decision.
